A confession at 5,000ft

Hello from 5,000ft above sea level (Or somewhere high in the mountains)
The night before we were leaving for a trip to the Blue Ridge mountains in North Carolina, I was a bit cranky.
Must have been a few sleepless nights and I always get a little anxious before traveling thinking Iāll forget to do somethingā¦
Which I did.
We actually got out of the house on time, which is a miracle in itself.
So my wife says, āWell, are you going to apologize to me for your attitude last night?ā
I said, āYes, but we better wait till we get past TSA security first so I donāt have to apologize again for being a nut.ā š
Oh that thing I forgot? Making sure that my license was in my wallet.š”
We did get on that plane, thank God.šš¼
And I did apologize to my wife once we were sitting down on the plane:)
This post is less about travel prep and more about staying present when you have a million things to do as a parent.
Youāre making sure the bills are paidā¦
Kids are fedā¦
Coordinating activities to keep everyone happyā¦
You have that big deadline you have to be ready forā¦
Oh, and dinner plans the night before your trip when youāre not even packed yet.
Life can feel overwhelming at times.
But our kids? They only see whatās in front of them at that moment.
Take some time and give yourself grace, stare at your child for a little while and feel the present moment as they feel it.
We can learn from and slow down watching our kids.
Sometimes I just watch my son entertain himself and it takes me back to when I used to do the same.

Life as an adulting parent is no joke.
But life is short so go be a kid again and play.
Buy yourself a toy.
Build a fort.
Watch your favorite movie as a kid.
I promise the adulting stuff will get done.
Just a reminder, youāre doing great.
You got this!
In your corner,
Greg
P.S. Iāve got some exciting news coming soon thatās going to help you create healthy habits with your kids and teach them timeless personal growth lessons each month that will for sure build a strong foundation for the rest of their lives and a great opportunity to work on yourself at the same time!
